Although the Santa Cop & Heroes Program has been in existence since 2007, it has quickly expanded services to become a year-round safety net for senior citizens in the Mat-Su Valley.
The Santa Cop & Heroes mission is to identify health and safety needs and support emotional well-being by providing gifts and companionship to Mat-Su Valley seniors who will be alone on Christmas, as well as to provide year-round emergency assistance to seniors in need.
This is not a needs-based program; the only requirement is that the senior will be alone on Christmas. To sign up for this program please click here to download an application.
The Santa Cop & Heroes Program continues to show seniors respect and dignity with year-round services such as snow plowing driveways, snow shoveling walkways, assisting in emergency needs such as firewood, home repairs, personal care products, clothing, heating fuel, electric bills and other needs as made aware to the program.
Due to the overwhelming growth of the Santa Cop Program, we have partnered with the Palmer Senior Citizens Center DBA Mat-Su Senior Services, and have become a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
Last year it became obvious that it makes sense for various community organizations to cooperate, rather than vie for resources. The Santa Cops & Heroes Program focuses on the senior citizens in our community who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day. The Christmas Friendship Dinner has made the meals available to any family which has at least on person unable to come to the Menard Center for the group meal. Both organizations serve people essentially from Talkeetna to Chickaloon.
